“There is only love.”

on October 15, 2013

For the month of February in “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, she decides to remember love. bloglovepre

Gretchen decides that in order to remember love, she has to:

  • Quit nagging
  • Don’t expect praise or appreciation
  • Fight right
  • No dumping
  • Give proofs of love

One thing that really stuck with me was when she explained that her friend was going to work for an extremely difficult person but instead of complaining and criticizing him, she decided that “there is only love” and from then on refused to complain even the slightest bit about her boss and even refused to hear others criticize him. A mindset like this one is a very important thing to have when faced with people that are difficult to work with because it is extremely easy to think about a person in a negative way, but it is more difficult to think positively about a person especially if they are causing you anger and stress. You can’t lead a positive life with a negative mind. In order for you to have a positive life, you can’t think negative thoughts because they usually lead you to make decisions out of anger and have a perception of a person that is not really how they are. I read a post earlier this week about a boy and every time he got angry, his dad told him to drive a nail into their wooden fence. There were a lot of nails in the fence but after a few weeks the number started to decrease. He finally had a day where he didn’t lose his temper. His father told him to pull out one of the nails. Each day that he was able to control his temper he took a nail out of the fence. Pretty soon there were no nails in the fence. The boy went to his dad and proudly told him that there were no more nails in the fence. His dad told him to look at all of the holes in the fence that the boy made when he was angry. He explained that “When you say things in anger, they leave permanent scars just like these. And no matter how many times you say you’re sorry, the wounds will still be there.” A positive mindset it key in order to prevent this from happening to the people you love and look up to. Try to see of you can stop yourself from thinking negative thoughts and fill your mind with positivity so that there will be no room for negative thoughts. Remember that there is only love.

Don’t forget to smile! 🙂
